The Airborne Frogman also known as Coney Island Monster was a strange humanoid creature reportedly sighted by many residents of Coney Island, New York City. At least that was until the Summer of 1880 when something else decided to frolic as well.
The Thing that was seen, was flying several hundred feet above the water. Hundreds saw it. It was described as mostly Human looking, but with large Bat Wings and the legs of a Frog As the wings flapped, a loud sound could be heard. Most here fascinated, still more terrified. Dubbed The Coney Island Monster.
Appearance[]
It was described as having a man's body attached to a bat's wings and "improved frog's legs". The creature was said to wear a "cruel expression", despite the fact that it also supposedly flew 1,000 feet in the air.
Possible Explanations[]
There are several explanations as to what the creature could be. Theories include:
- A supernatural creature
- A hoax
Trivia[]
- This kind of biological absurdity is quite common in reports of winged men, even apart from the facts that a humanoid shape doesn't fit with aerodynamics very well and that anything weighing close to an adult human's weight should have great difficulty getting off the ground.
