The Beaumont Blackout was a bizarre mass blackout that occurred in the early morning of May 3, 1985, and left 132,000 people in the Greater Beaumont-Southeast Texas area without electricity.
On the early morning of May 3, 1985, 132,000 people in the Greater Beaumont-Southeast Texas area were left without electricity. Officials of the local electric company, Gulf States Utilities, blamed the blackout on a lightning storm in Alabama, approximately 100 miles north of Beaumont.

- Supposedly a farmer who farmed the surrounding land had his tractor start by itself and proceed to ditch itself in the nearby riverbed. The riverbed is devoid of any sort of fish or aquatic animal.
